A group of nine Jamaicans living in South Florida journeyed home during “Homecoming Week” to fulfill their commitment to Epping Forrest All Age School and Woodford Basic School.

Events to mark the one year anniversary of Jamaican Diaspora Day got under way with a reception on Thursday, June 16 at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale.

Professor Gordon Shirley, Jamaican Ambassador to the United States said that this is an important juncture for Jamaica as it was set for growth and told his audience that the Diaspora has a fundamental role to play in the process of change.

Senator Delano Franklyn, Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade was recently presented with keys to the City of Miramar by City Commissioner Fitzroy Salesman, also a Jamaican national.
